The Parklands Project involved the master planning, design, and delivery of the 29.4 ha Gold Coast Parklands site, which will accommodate up to 6,500 athletes and team officials during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games™ (GC2018) as the Commonwealth Games Village (CGV).

Completed in 2017, the CGV forms the important catalyst for the redevelopment of this Parklands site, and will leave the major legacy of GC2018 — a vibrant, inclusive and connected urban mixed use community, and the key stage of the evolving Gold Coast Health & Knowledge Precinct.

More than a commonwealth games village, Parklands is a microcosm of sustainable urban living. With a strong social + economic agenda, the new Parklands community is the region’s largest ever urban renewal project.

The striking colour of the built form reflects both the diverse + celebratory qualities that underpin both the Gold Coast + Commonwealth Games experience.

The jury applauds the dedication and commitment of the design team, in delivering both a city making + legacy project for the Gold Coast.
