The Pomona Place Plan is the result of a collaborative effort between the Noosa Council and the Pomona community
Developed in collaboration with Noosa Council and our friends at Cred Consulting, this project piloted a new approach to planning and placemaking – one that puts community voices at the centre. Being the pilot project, the Pomona Place Plan is the first of many.
Over three rounds of engagement, we worked closely with the people of Pomona to shape a shared vision for the future. The resulting plan sets out clear actions for the next 10–20 years, to be delivered by Noosa Council, the local community, and key stakeholders.
The plan aims to preserve the town’s distinctive character while strengthening its liveability, connections and resilience. It’s a practical, people-first framework for village improvements and long-term community benefit.
The team's strategy embraced Pomona's built form and landscape heritage, with a focus on creating positive economic, environmental, and social outcomes to create a dynamic and memorable town heart that creatively and safely balances the needs and desires of pedestrians and vehicles. The result is a fundamentally people and place-based master plan strategy, with a design that physically revitalises and improves small town amenity and walkability, while celebrating Pomona heritage values.
“The urban sketching workshops were a fantastic engagement activity for the Pomona Place Plan as they helped provide more meaningful and deeper engagement feedback from the community. Participants were able to talk about why they loved Pomona and the importance and value the unique village and landscape character contributes to this connection through the sketching.”
“Working with Archipelago on the development of the Pomona Place Plan was a great experience. The attention to detail, professional knowledge and commitment to the project were outstanding. The result was a highly engaging process resulting in a place plan that reflects the communities aspirations with clear and achievable actions for delivery.”
