Urban renewal of this Regional Centre will see the heart of the city transformed over the next 10 years. Recognising the considerable growth forecasted for the region, the emergent city centre will need to meet future employment and community requirements.

The new City Centre will service a wider catchment of more than one million people, and will be the largest Central Business District north of Brisbane.

Archipelago was engaged to undertake a feasibility study to inform a development proposal for the design and construction of a potential new Justice Building and a new Council Administration Centre—to create a civic heart of fine public buildings within this Regional CBD.

The court complex would be purpose-built to cater for future population growth, and offer a range of benefits and facilities for members of the judiciary, legal practitioners, court staff, police, volunteers, and members of the community, including: improved security; access to the latest technology; additional and more spacious courtrooms with natural light; additional meeting rooms; facilities to accommodate visiting judges; and capacity for further expansion.
