Brighton Health Campus
Concept Structure Plan
[ URBAN DESIGN + master planning ]
The Brighton Health Campus is a bay side healthcare precinct in northern Brisbane, which provides community-based support services as an alternative to hospital care. Archipelago authored a concept structure plan for the precinct based on ‘Vision for Brighton’; a document which outlines the long-term goals for the redevelopment of the Brighton site as a transformative community health hub.
An urban analysis of the opportunities and constraints of the Brighton site lead to the development of a concept structure plan based on three overarching design principles:
Welcoming the community into the space;
Creating graduated zones of clinical service delivery; and
Creating a healthy green place by the bay.
The structure plan integrated these principles into a final concept that positions Brighton as a world class health and community hub, on a campus that is permeable, healthy, green, and community-oriented, and which has the flexibility for continued growth of services over the long term.
